Rebecca Found Employment

I guess it's not that hard to find a job in Mexico. Rebecca has only been there for about a month, and she just landed herself a job at the Spa at one of the RIUs.

I'm very happy for her. She didn't want to resort to taking photos of tourists with a monkey!

The Little Pink Dog Dilemma Solved

Rebecca from Toronto e-mailed me and she knows the pink dog that I ran across. She said that it belongs to the owners of a pink salon, of course! She said that it has to be the same dog because how many pink dogs could there be? LOL

Summation of Urban Suites

PROS

  1. It was a newer studio that was simply decorated
  2. I loved my floor-to-celing window...it was my window to the world!
  3. I liked being on the top floor and getting my exercise walking up and down the stairs
  4. It was gated
  5. The rooftop was very nice (but it wasn't available for use the last half of my trip)
  6. There were no cockroaches!!!
  7. It had the basic supplies if you wanted to cook
  8. When you arrive, they have mini Teva toiletries (which is the same that they provide at the El Dorado Royale)
  9. Anna, the building manager, provides transporation to/from the airport, if needed (it was convenient for my early morning departure)
  10. I loved the raised bathroom sink
  11. The T.V. channels were decent (not that I watch T.V. that often)

CONS

  1. I was a little concerned about getting out in case of a fire
  2. The Internet was not working well during the first half of my trip. Finally, they switched Internet Providers (without telling me) but I figured it out, and it worked so much more smoothly afterwards
  3. It was about 10 blocks to 5th Avenue
  4. It is not for people with disabilities
  5. It's located only 1/2 block in from Highway 307
  6. The neighborhood was a bit run down - not what you'd expect from the pictures of the condo - It was safe, but it would not be for everyone
  7. It is an extremely noisy neighborhood - There were the cars/trucks screaming by, the 24 Hour Mechanics across the street, people playing music, dogs barking, roosters crowing, and Anna's (the building manager) booming voice yelling - It added to my experience, but again, it would not be for everyone
  8. It was too expensive for the location
  9. Getting clean washcloths from Anna was sometimes a challenge (even though I brought some of my own too)
  10. The water temperature in the shower was sporadic
  11. There was no door to the shower, so you had to figure out how to shower without getting the water all over the floor
  12. If Anna came in to make the bed or clean, she would turn off the A/C
  13. The light in the kitchen was terrible, and that's the only place where you get a signal for the Internet, which made it difficult to work
  14. The safe lock had to be jiggled back and forth to get it to lock
  15. There was no telephone, and they did not disclose this information
  16. There was no clock, luckily I travel with an alarm clock

I'm Allergic to Being Home

Ever since I returned home, my allergies have been going crazy. I have not felt well at all, and I can't figure out why.

We took Syd out for her birthday, and that night was worse from the moment I walked into the restaurant. Not sure what that's about.

My theory is that I need to get back to Mexico in the hot sun, and get some more Smoothies from Nativo.

I did go an buy some Boathouse Farms brand Smoothies and other natural foods to see if diet will help. I'm ready to get on the next plane!

Mary Jo Wants to Go Back to Mexico

OMG!....Please take me back! My laundry is almost finished, and I'm ready to go back.

My parents have not stopped arguing since I came home, and I'm going crazy.

Maybe I will live in the compound with Tina and her gang!
