February 7 - Day 7
It was so cold again last night. I slept with the blanket over my head. This morning was much warmer though.
Breakfast
I had breakfast at the Hotel Casa Tucan on Calle 4th. Just a muffin and some fruit. I had to be out early so that Anna could clean the condo. Baloo wasn't there.
5th Avenue
I walked around 5th Avenue again. I found 2 great new stores. One has everything from copper sinks to wall art to jewelry. It's located on the other side of the park near the ferry dock. He had some really unique things.
The other was down Sur 1 behind Paseo Del Carmen. She had all kinds of statues and religious artifacts that were so inexpensive. They had a horse for only $10.00 U.S.
I bought Sam's "bone guy," as he calls it.
Photos
All morning I took pictures and didn't realize that I forgot to put the SD card back in my camera. They are stuck in my internal memory till I get home because I didn't bring the cord with me.
Lunch
I packed my lunch at ate it down by the ferry dock again. There weren't as many pigeons as usual.
Work
I returned to the condo to check on things.
Peanut Pet Shelter
Starting time is 1:00 p.m. Since it's so close, I left at 12:55 p.m. No taxi drivers wanted to take me because it's too close, yet not that close (about 8 blocks). Andy recommended that I take a taxi. A bus driver and local were trying to help me out. Finally, I told the one lady that I would give her $5.00 to take me there.
I can't believe that Jen and Andy have 80 dogs (not 18) at their home. They came here from England and Jen's son, Adam was helping out too. There were so many local people as well as visitors volunteering to wash the dogs.
One puppy adopted me! Seriously, they were all so cute and it's amazing how they get along as they are not in separate cages. I love dogs, but I could never have all of those dogs.
There was a male dog with a missing leg and a lot of marks on his face. It looks like they used him in dog fights. Very sad. He was very sweet and loved getting his face washed. Someone called him tri-pod.
It rained on us for about 10 minutes, but we were under the canopies. I didn't mind washing, but I wouldn't pick the ticks! I called Rick to do that. He's a friend of Andy and Jen's.
I walked back with a couple who just moved here from Toronto. Now, I know how to go if I want to volunteer next week.
Relaxation
I don't know if that word exists for me. I went to the rooftop to get some sun for about an hour before getting ready for dinner. One of the other residents was up there too. I was enjoying the warmth of the sun when it started drizzling again. Then, the resident's friend came up. They were chatting and I could tell that they were speaking French. It started to rain a little bit more, so I decided to go in.
Rainbow
As I was coming down the stairs I noticed a big rainbow (I could see both ends) so I ran to get my camera. Just as I was taking pictures, it started to downpour again.
Fleas
I felt like I had Fleas, so I couldn't wait to shower. I love dogs, but yikes!
Dinner
What Not to Wear
Talk about what not to wear! I hope that Stacy & Clinton aren't around. I'm wearing my pajama top, which looks like a t-shirt and the new jeans I bought with a sweater. What a dork!
I was worried that it was going to rain again, so I didn't want to go too far, but I ended up walking to 5th Avenue. I was very indecisive. I wanted to go to El Fogon again, but thouht I should try something different.
Media Luna
I ended up going to Media Luna and I had a very nice seat overlooking 5th Avenue from upstairs. I had the Soya Chicken with cheese and garlic zucchini. Although I liked it, and I tried something different, I would have preferred El Fogon or one of my other usual favorites.
Starbucks
It started to drizzled again, so I got a Chai Tea and was going to take a taxi back, but it stopped by the time I came out. I figured that it would start again, so I walked back right away.
La Kalaka
I stopped to talk to the owners of La Kalaka, which was empty again tonight due to the weather. I'm going to have to eat there one night. It does smell delicious.
Work
I've been working for the past few hours. I wanted to make sure that I was caught up so that I could go to the beach tomorrow (weather permitting).

2 Comments:
Sounds like you have been working your tail off. Hope things are better with your internet-hate when that happens and it always stops when your rolling. Okay, it is great that you spent time at the dog place, but NO WAY would I touch any of them, till they had baths. I would be itching so bad!
Yes, a lot of work. I wish the Inernet would cooperate, but Jorge said he has the same problems.
Funny thing is that the owner of the Shelter told me that I might have been allergic from the shampoo because she is. It's very strong. Well, it's better than Lyme Disease or Fleas!
