February 23 - Day 23

Bryn and I were up all night even though we set the alarm for 5:30 a.m. because the taxi was picking her up at 6:00 a.m.

She got up in the middle of the night thinking that the alarm got off, but I was adjusting the air conditioner.

Then, I had to get up a few times because of my sunburn. It was the weirdest thing ever, but it was like my cheek was leaking (or tears were coming out of my cheek).

6:00 a.m.
I walked Bryn downstairs. One of the neighbors was washing his car. It was a little chilly out still. The taxi driver was a few minutes late. As a matter of fact, I just went upstairs to call him when he arrived.

Bryn was on her way back home!

Sleep
I decided to sleep for another hour. It felt good. I heard something, and realized that it was raining. It poured till about 9:00 a.m.

Work
While I was working this morning (because the Internet was cooperating) someone knocked on the door. I figured that it had to be someone in our complex because the gate is locked (although the last few times I've found it open). I still asked who it was, and it was Anna. She looked horrified, and it took me a second to realize why. She saw how burnt my face was. Anyhow, she wanted to borrow the key for the gate (I'm not really sure why).

Leftovers
I put Bryn's leftovers to good use. I took her burrito and some of my snacks to Tina and her friends (the poor people next to Hotel Colorado). Tina wsn't there, but the lady said, "Muchas Gracias," and took the food.

Lavenderia
On my way to breakfast, I dropped off some more clothes to be washed. I couldn't quite mke it.

Jorge
I was going to ask Jorge what I should put on my face, but his store wasn't even open yet. That's how they operate in Mexico.

Breakfast
Hotel Playa Del Karma
I decided to go back for my pancakes. The cook was concerned because the extra banana wasn't ripe enough, so instead, she put some mini chocolate chips on top with the strawberries. They were soooo good. If the were large chips, I don't think I would have liked them as much.

Luca, the owner's friend from Italy who lives in London, was serving again. I don't think I realized how cute he was the first time. Bryn, you missed out on more than just the pancakes.

He sure was chatting a lot. He told me that their sister property, Hacienda Paradise IS open on Sundays and that they have the same menu. You learn something new every day.

He also mentioned that the Hacienda Paradise has a great theme dinner on Friday nights and that I should go to it. I'd like to go just to see him! LOL

5th Avenue
I walked down 5th, because I didn't want to spend too much time in the sun, and I went to the Pharmacy. The guy told me that Aloe wouldn't work on my sunburned face because I had "burns." He sold me some medicine that is to treat Sepsis in burn patients. I was concerned about using it after researching it on the Internet.

Bikini
I bought the cutest bikini for $20.00 U.S. that I saw while I was waiting for Byrn to arrive. It will look ver cute with the cover up that I bought in Cozumel. Maybe it will inspire me to lose weight. LOL

Tours
I stopped on 10th Avenue and inquired about some tours. They had a reasonable one to Chichen Itza. After thinking about it, I decided to try Xcaret.

Wal-Mart
I needed a few things from Wal-Mart. I haven't been there in a while. Wal-Mart was so busy and people were blocking the aisles, and it reminded me of shopping at Wal-Mart at home. All of the other stores can be empty, but not Wal-Mart! At almost any time of the day or night, there parking lot is full. It started to look like rain on the way back.

I put everything away and decided to head out again.

5th Avenue
I was going to read my book in the shade at the park since it looked nice out again. Shortly after I arrived on 5th Avenue, it started to drizzle, then it drizzled harder and faster. I took cover at Pez Vela, but then I decided to head down to Paseo Del Carmen.

Bodeguita Del Media
I wasn't that hungry, but since it was raining harder, I decided to stop and have something. Since I'm reading a book named "Cuba," I thought it would be appropriate to eat at a Cuban restaurant. I ordered Cheese Balls with Corriander Sauce.

Tours
Xcaret was pretty expensive (especially for being so close). Instead, I booked the Chichen Itza tour because it includes Valladolid, and I've always wanted to go there. It will also keep me out of the sun!

Joyeria
I stopped and bought one more necklace on my way back.

Urban Suites
It started raining harder as I left the jewelry store. I stopped at Mom's hotel and put my pancho on.

I got back and did some work and updated my blog. Finally, when it looked like it was going to stay nice out, I went back out.

Chedraui
I spent a good length of time trying to find a face cream because I called my doctor and he said that's what I should use. I have two with me, but I definitely don't want to use the one because it has retinol in it. I decided to buy some Aloe for my body and Nivea lotion with milk in it for my face. I wasn't able to purchase the Nivea because it didn't have a bar code and the manager was anal. She ran off to find one, but I said I would just take the Aloe. I decided that my suntan lotion would work because it's anti-aging and has some vitamins in it.

I walked back the highway route for a change of scenery. Some teenage boys at the gas station whistled at me (burnt face and all).

I dropped my aloe off and went out again. Anna probably thinks I'm a revolving door.

5th Avenue
I checked out a Pharmacy, and they had this lotion that I might buy. It's made with some oils from the turtles and sharks. I won't use it on my face, but I thought it might be good for my body.

Pizza
I bought a slice of pizza and ate it as I walked around.

Starbucks
I got my Chai from Starbucks for the walk home.

Kitty
Harley will be so jealous! I stopped and gave a kitty some of my Chai Tea. Harley loves Chai Tea. My mom said that she told Harley that I would be coming home soon, and Harley walked to her and then to my bedroom. The poor thing doesn't fully comprehend time, of course. You would think she'd be very excited to see me, but I know Harley. She's a grudge holder, and probably won't warm up to me for a week or so.

Jimeer
Jimeer stopped me on my way back. He wants to go to the Mambo Cafe to Salsa dance one night, but I told him again that I don't dance. Even though I was not wearing make-up and have a burnt face, he still said that I'm "bew-tee-ful" again. He's probably one of those Nacos! He also offered to massage my feet. Now, if it was only Luca asking that! LOL

Urban Suites
I was back by 8:15 p.m. to get things ready for my tour and finalize some work.

Knock
I had another knock on my door and it was Anna again. She wanted to know if the Internet was working, which surprisingly, it was. It went down about a half hour before, but I was able to get it working again.
