February 18 - Day 18
I went to bed late again, so I didn't want to wake up early (not that I had to). I did have to stick around and wait for a client to call anyhow.
I just ate at the condo while I was working.
Bank
I wanted to go to the Banamex (across from CocoBongo) because they were offering great exchange rates. However, I think they are a bunch of con-artists. The other day, they said the systems were down. Then, this morning, there was a note saying that foreigners had to have their Passports. (I figured that I'd go back and get mine.)
Their rate was $14.29, but I got it for $13.54. I doubt that they really have that rate. It appears that they don't want to deal with foreigners anyhow.
Cross
I wanted to buy a silver cross for my dad, so I walked down to 30th where I saw one. I did buy it too.
The Beach
I walked the beach towards the ferry dock and then to 5th again and back to the condo to get my Passport.
Lady from Canada
Remember the ladies that I showed the condo too? Well, one of them was walking down the street and recognized me. She hugged me and started talking to me. Her friend was still sleeping because she was dancing past 3:00 a.m. She wants Bryn and I to go to the Reggae place on 5th. That's where they like to go. She is going to Tulum on Friday when the 3rd friend arrives.
She said they found a great hotel near Wal-Mart called Estafa. Then, this creepy, homeless guy (that looked like he came from California) came lurking around, so we went on our way.
Urban Suites
I checked, but the Internet was down, so just grabbed my Passport and left.
Lunch
La Carmela
This is just a little hole-in-the wall on Calle 4 near 15th Avenida. I pass it every day and I noticed that their sign said that they had Empanadas for $9 Pesos. There are some by Wal-Mart for $5 Pesos, but it looked like a fast food place. (I was tempted to get some from the food cart on my way to the condo, but it was so hot.)
I was the only customer at the time, and the place was really cute AND CLEAN on the inside. The lady was very sweet. Of course, she didn't know Ingles and I knew poquito Espanol. We did pretty well. I got a Chicken and a Cheese Empanada and a glass of fresh Pineapple juice.
There was this beatiful copper sun on the wall that I wanted to buy, but she said it wasn't for sale. She had quite a few things on display (including necklaces) but she said they weren't for sale either.
Sorbet
There's a place on 10th that sells Corn on the Cob and homemade Sorbets. I got 2 scoops for $15 Pesos. I got Coco (which is coconut) and Mamey (which is some tropical fruit). I really liked the Mamey a lot. It was very refreshing.
Bank
I walked back to the Banamex and now the note said that it had to be a "copy" of your Passport. I'm not leaving them with a copy of my Passport. The dudes were laughing too....like it was a big joke!
Exercise
Walk, walk and walk some more. All over 5th and back to the beach again.
Pedicure
I decided that I could not go to the Bahia Principe with my feet looking so awful, so I got a pedicure at Plaza Pelicanos (that's where Annemarie goes). It was a little more expensive than the place on 10th, but they were taking a Siesta, and asked me to come back in an hour. I just didn't want to wait.
There were a lot of men getting pedicures.
Joyeria
I stopped in and bought another pendant. There won't be anything left by the time Bryn gets here!
Jimeer
As I was walking down the street, I heard someone yell out "You are bew-tee-ful." I immediately knew who it was. He wants me to have lunch with him one day, but I told him that my friend is coming. (I wanted to say that I surely didn't smell bew-tee-ful!)
Urban Suites
Ahhh!...Nice air conditioning and a diet coke. The Internet is actually working, so that's a bonus.
I wrapped up some work and my blog and it was already 3:30 p.m.
Bahia Principe Akumal
I got dressed up to go to dinner with Annemarie at the Akumal. Wearing heels to the collectivo station was not a good idea. I don't understand how people do it.
The collectivo was packed with people mostly going to the Bahia Principe. The collectivo driver drove excessively fast. I told Annemarie that I think they haven't gotten worse.
Hacienda
I looked around at the Hacienda when I arrived. It ws a bit chilly out,and I was wearing a strapless dress.
Luis
I went to the Coba to see if Luis was around, but he wasn't. Jose' said he hadn't seen him, so I had a Cappucino in the Coba lobby. Then, Gerrardo was back, so I asked him and he said that he was at the Apple Vacations presentation/dinner. He told me to go there, but I thought that would be rude.
Akumal
I went back to the Akumal and had a Banana Daquiri at the bar while I waited for Annemarie. Now, she even wants to go to the jewelry store!
I ate too much as usual. I think that I should change the name of my blog to "Eating My Way Through Mexico."
She drove me back to the condo and I got in around 9:00 p.m.

Back to Eating thru Mexico- LOL. Your so funny-your on vacation..we all eat like that while on vacation and your walking so much. How is Annmarie doing? Does her husband ever come out-have you ever met him?
Maybe you should buy all the jewelry from that store and open up a jewelery place- LOL!
When RIF'd, pack up and go to Mexico!
No, I haven't met Alfonso yet. He was working in Cancun last night.
I swear...I said I should sell that jewelry in town. I'd make a killing!
