Day 15 - February 15

Another quiet morning. Es Domingo. A lot of places are closed on Sundays.

Work-Out
I went to the rooftop and worked out. I can really feel the muscles in my legs aching when I sleep from walking so much.

Boobs (Sorry male readers!)
It looks like I had a boob job since I've been here. They are so darn huge. Maybe all of my food is now going to my boobs!

Anna
I left a note under the door for Anna because she wanted my flight information. She is going to drive me to the airport when I leave (which isn't for 2 more weeks).

My Mission to Find Joyeria
There was a jewelry store that I saw with an old Mexican woman running it. I wanted to go out to see if I could find it.

It's unbearably hot today! It's really blistering. (It smells of stinky garbage in the air because it's so hot).

I did not have any luck finding it. I swear that it's on Calle 4. Perhaps she doesn't open every day because I know that I have seen her more than once. I saw Jimeer on my way back (his restaurant is finally open) and he thinks it's this one place that is closed today because it's Sunday. It's just a half of a block from his restaurant. I will look for it again tomorrow.

The Poor
There are some Mexicans that live next to the Hotel Colorado. They are very dirty and poor. At first I thought it was some sort of hostel. I've seen the man taking a leak outside. and sleeping on the ground (I have his picture).

Today, as I walked by, they said "Hola," but they didn't ask for anything. I brought my lunch meat and bread to give to them, but I didn't want to offend them, so I asked the lady at the Hotel Colorado to do it. Plus, she can communicate with them easier.

Church
I found a mass that was taking place and a girl was selling cards with Saints on them, so I bought one for my Grandma. She likes that sort of thing. This one is for healing and she lights candles for people all the time (even though I bought her the flameless kind).

Lunch
I was hungry, so I walked around town. I wanted to go to Garden of Eating (too far) or Palapa Hemingways (too hot), so I decided to go back to the Blue Parrot Beach Club because it's right on the beach. That was the perfect choice because it really cooled me off. What a difference the ocean breeze makes. I had the Nachos and Coca-Cola Lite.

Dessert
I stopped at the Gelato Factory and ordered a scoop of the Cappucino Gelato. I figured after all of my sampling, I better buy something.

The Fall
Did you think I would come to Mexico and not fall down? Well, it happened right on the corner of Avenida 30 and Calle 4 (the very busy intersection that I walk every day). Some of the sidewalks are very slippery when you are wearing flip flops. I stepped up the curb, and my feet slid out from under me. Luckily, my camera didn't break because it was in my other hand. An older man who saw me said something as he passed. Not sure if he was asking how I was or if he was making fun of me.

I have broken my cell phone though by dropping it on the tile floor in the condo a couple of times.

Mechanics
The Mechanics really like me for some reason. They were taking a Siesta, but as I walked by, they woke up and started saying "Hi" to me.

Urban Suites
Back at Urban Suites to avoid the heat a little. The aire acondicionado feels so good. I need to do some more quotes too.

El Perros
As I was walking to 5th Avenue, I ran into the skittish little dog that I always talk to and feed. It was sitting under two little kids who were eating pasta. I asked if it was their dog and it turns out that it was and they are the kids of the lady who works at the Lavenderia.

The dog was very happy to see me, but then I saw Baloo and said "Hi" to him. He recognized his name right away and came over. He was trying to lean on me, but I had white capris on, so I didn't want him to. The other dog was jealous and kept trying to get my attention, and when Baloo gave him a dirty look, I was out of there! The last thing I needed was to be in the middle of a dog fight.

Shopping
I was browsing in a store and the owner asked me if I was Mexican. That's the second time today! Earlier, it was when I was in a shoe store. As soon as I speak in English, I think they have their answer! LOL

The same shop owner noticed my larimar ring from Punta Cana. He even knew it was from there. He said it was very nice. I told him that I do buy things if they are reasonable enough. He wanted $50 for a small copper ring. No way Jose!

Dinner
I just wanted a Caramel Crepe for dinner, so I went to Jorge's favorite place, Diez. The waitress convinced me to get it with bananas and Vanilla ice cream too. Some girl eating in the restaurant through her napkin out the window and onto the street, and of course, I was horrified and asked the guy next to me if he saw what she did. Then, as I was leaving, he asked me to join him. He was still finishing up his steak. Funny thing is that he asked me if I was a Food Critic or Editor because I took a picture of my food. I should start telling people that, but I'm a terrible liar. His name is Bryan and he's from San Francisco. He works for a non-profit called The Coral Reef Alliance, so he was there on business. He's only 39. I always find the young ones.

After he finished eating, he asked if I wanted to listen to some music. I don't think he wanted to walk as far as Cheester's for Jazz, so we went to the Blue Parrot, but they didn't have any live music. It was nice and breezy on the beach again, but there were some very drunk college students.

Afterwards, he walked back with me to 30th Avenida.

Work
Checking on clients again and catching up. I wasn't planning on staying out till 11:00 p.m. That's a late night for me!

No dirt on Bryan. Nice to talk to...interesting, but I'm not going to marry him or date him. He's a little too hooked on environmental issue for me. Nice guy though.

No way! Not that much snow. What do you dis-like more...snow or Mexicans?

Hmmm- I have to say that is a toss up- Mexicans or snow.....They both have pros and cons =)

I don't even RECYCLE! He was interesting though 'cuz he lived in Ecuador for a while and most of his travels take him to Fiji and New Guinea. He was going to Cancun for business the rest of the trip.
